Carbon league table

Carbon league table

Local authority cabon league table

Ricardo has released a carbon league table, which, for the first time, ranks local authorities according to the carbon impacts of their complete waste management service. Tonnages by material being sent to each fate (reuse, recycling, composting/digestion, recovery and landfill, using data from WasteDataFlow and national reports) are multiplied by our carbon emission factors, summed, and divided by the total weight, to arrive at an Average Emission Factor (AEF, in kg of CO2 eq per tonne of waste handled). Including the fate of residual waste is critical to understanding the carbon performance of the entire waste treatment.
