Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) compliance support
Support for ESOS Phase 2
The deadline for compliance with Phase 1 passed on December 2015. We are now in Phase 2 of ESOS, and with the upcoming deadline of 5th December 2019, there is no time like the present to start planning how you will meet compliance.
We can help you with our tailored service that is designed to support your desired outcome from the process. We recommend using ESOS as an opportunity to expose cost savings and efficiencies for your business by:
- Targeting activities that you didn’t cover in the first cycle
- Thinking strategically about the future of your company’s energy supply and demand

Our ESOS services include:
- Lead Assessor compliance support
- ESOS compliance audits that provide strategic advice
- ESOS audits tailored to meet your sector’s and company’s needs
- Public building/Display Energy Certificates (DEC) assessments
- ISO50001 Energy Management implementation support
And don’t forget that if you have operations across Europe you will need to think about your compliance needs for each country you operate in. We offer an Article 8 compliance service too.

Background to ESOS - what is it and does it apply to my company?
The UK’s response to Article 8 of the European Union’s Energy Efficiency Directive (EU EED) is the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS). ESOS mandates that companies with more than 250 employees or a turnover of more than €50 million and a balance sheet of more than €43 million must undertake an energy audit at least every four years.
There are many things that you can be doing now to equip your company for a smooth road to compliance. One option is working towards accreditation to the ISO 50001 energy management standard, which exempts organisations from ESOS, and provides wider benefits through a more structured approach to managing energy consumption.
