Identifying, measuring and celebrating success in waste to energy projects
5 December

The stakeholder route to delivering waste to energy projects can be a minefield and extremely difficult to navigate.  A somewhat daunting timescale can lead to a fog of confusion that can be hard to visualise at the outset. Using key milestone reviews to measure specific project deliverables can assist in determining what success should look like at every stage of the lifecycle, which should rightly be celebrated and aligned for future successes.

Organics - FOGO or not FOGO, that is the Question
5 March 2018

With the publication of the National Food Waste Strategy and challenge to half food waste by 2030, maximising the yields from organic waste collection systems is an increasing priority. However, the adoption of organic collections pose a multitude of challenges and barriers for authorities; many preventing collection schemes progressing from ‘paper to pavement’. Informed by significant experience from overseas, this webinar, led by SarahJane Widdowson, will explore:

  • The relative merits between collecting food and garden waste in separate containers and FOGO collections;
  • Implementation issues and horizon scanning; and
  • Perceptions and misconceptions

Consistency programme and the role of restricted residual capacity to achieve recycling success
3 April 2018

Whether by bin size or the frequency of collection (or a combination of both), in the UK, households residual waste capacity is being targeted for restriction. The drivers for this seem obvious; however, the strategy and support for implementation are less so. This, coupled with a consistency paradox between collection and treatment systems, means the path to achieving waste reduction  and increased recycling targets is a thought-provoking subject. Exploring this hot topic further will be Jade-Ashlee Rawling, who has been working across the UK on a range of business case modelling projects supporting the UK consistency programme agenda. Jade will explain the purpose of the programme, key trends and approaches to success.
