Procuring Waste Management Services toolkit
Procuring Waste Management Services toolkit

The Procuring Waste Management Services Toolkit is aimed at making the procurement process as smooth as possible; minimising the potential of long delays; avoiding common pitfalls; and, importantly, in the present economic climate, reducing expenditure on the procurement and the service contracted.

It aims to support local authority officers and provides information to structure waste management and public-realm service and infrastructure contracts so that they are attractive to the market, commercially viable to the contractor and affordable to the local authority.

The toolkit outlines the activities local authorities need to consider to ensure that the procurement process they undertake to select a supplier (and partner):
• provides value, delivers quality and drives efficiency; and
• creates the foundation for a collaborative approach to the delivery of waste management and public-realm services.

It brings together a huge portfolio of current guidance documents, examples of good practice and a host of other publicly available resources to enable local governments to learn from each other.

We hope you find it useful and that it provides what you need to cover during the procurement process at whatever stage you are involved.
