Gavin is an environmental management professional, with 17 years of sustainability and waste management experience in the UK and Australia emerging from an engineering background with a passion for resource reuse and recovery – working across the waste hierarchy.

Gavin is an experienced waste management practitioner and project manager, core work includes delivering waste strategies, waste options studies and waste data modelling for councils, regions and commercial clients. Wider experience of waste and resource assessment work covers Energy from Waste, with waste feedstock mapping and analysis and the development of a Circular Economy mass balance calculator.

Consulting on Waste Strategy Projects for councils including Cumberland, Shellharbour and Coffs Coast; regional Waste Strategy, Options and Implementation projects for WSROC, SSROC, ISJO and the Hunter Region; high profile EPA projects such as the WARR Survey Review and the C&I Strategy Development; and has been the technical lead for waste modelling using the ‘naus’ waste intelligence tool.

Gavin has work as a Senior Waste and Consultant in the Australian market for 4 years and was previously the Waste Strategy Officer at a UK Council, acting as the strategic lead for the future service development of the recycling centres network; delivering and contact managing education programs for waste reduction across the community sector and partner councils and generated valuable new project innovations. He also delivered substantial increases in waste contract productivity and developed innovative procurement of tenders, resulting in a major impact on the organisation's performance and bottom line.
