Senior Consultant, Waste & Resource Management

Alice is a Chartered Resource and Waste Manager with experience across air emissions and waste management activities. Alice has supported a large number of clients to secure environmental and emissions trading scheme (ETS) permits, including applications for bespoke permits relating to a wide range of installations and waste activities, such as energy from waste (EfW), metal recycling, household waste recycling, carbon capture and utilisation (CCU), data centre back up generation, peaking plant, food and drink, and manufacturing. She worked on the permitting of the UK’s first industrial-scale CCU plant, which is Tata Chemicals Europe’s Winnington CCU plant in Cheshire. She has completed annual compliance modelling for fugitive emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from fuel storage sites in Wales and has worked on permits for facilities under the EU and UK ETS. She has also worked on various best available technique (BAT) assessments, including one for different combustion unit options for peaking plant which later fed into the Environment Agency’s decision on BAT for peaking plant. Outside of permitting and compliance, Alice has worked on anaerobic digestion (AD) market assessment projects, local authority waste strategies and expert opinion cases concerning hazardous waste.

Alice has worked in environmental consultancy for more than 4 years. Prior to joining Ricardo in 2021, Alice worked in the Permitting & Compliance team at RPS and she was shortlisted for Let's Recycle's '35 Under 35' in the Waste and Recycling industry in 2021, out of more than 130 applicants. Alice enjoys the challenges presented by complex sites, technologies and solutions and for each project delivered she builds strong relationships with all stakeholders including regulators, local authorities and other interested parties to ensure a successful outcome.
