Simon Gandy chairs Ricardo’s modelling working group, and has over 15 years of experience in a diverse range of modelling work, including Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), material and waste flow models, market forecasts and packaging producer responsibility calculators. LCA is a particularly cross-cutting technique that can be applied across Ricardo’s wide range of environmental services, and, accordingly, Simon contributes to projects across the business. He has used the same analytical techniques to study (for example) grid-scale storage of electricity using ammonia, the manufacture of rail cable troughs from car-shredder plastics and the environmental credentials of projects financed by the Green Investment Bank.
Simon has a particular interest in good workbook design, and a reputation for his attention to detail, which is regularly put to good use performing QA checks on workbooks, and in his role directing many modelling projects. He is qualified verifier for the International EPD System ( IES, Environdec)
