Colin has 25 years of experience in providing advice on energy issues for policy makers and investors. Working initially in energy efficiency and CHP, his recent work has focused on the opportunities to deploy renewable energy systems in the UK, Europe & beyond.
Colin’s work includes strategic studies developing projections and scenarios for renewable energy development (for Scotland & Northern Ireland), horizon-scanning the use of renewable energy technology innovations and markets, as well as developing evidence bases for the functions needed from future power system architecture.
His work on renewable energy feasibility studies includes assessment of opportunities at building level, on business parks and at city and local authority level. These studies have involved technical assessment of renewable energy resources, constraints to development, investment returns and business cases.
He has undertaken audits and due diligence studies on a range of technologies (wind, hydro, biomass, tidal energy), using a combination of site audits and scrutiny of key technical, environmental and financial data to assess project performance.
Colin is a Chartered Engineer and Chair of the Scottish Energy Association, a body representing a wide range of energy companies in Scotland.
