According to the United Nations 54% of the world’s population currently lives in urban areas, a proportion that is expected to increase to 66% by 2050.
Increased urbanisation and an ever growing population means that cities are being put under more and more pressure. Existing infrastructure is put under pressure and new infrastructure can be difficult to plan for in space that needs to compete with accommodation, business and other essential services.
This webinar recording will provide case study examples of our work with cities and the process that city leaders have gone through to ensure appropriate access to waste management services for all including:
- Strategy and vision for waste management – moving beyond protecting health and the environment to securing resources for the future?
- Understanding waste arisings and material flow
- Engaging stakeholders so that there is a shared understanding and responsibility to help drive forward the new strategy / solutions
- Delivering solutions that are appropriate to the local situation including new and traditional technologies.
