As part of a GIZ project: “Accounting rules for the achievement of the mitigation goals of non-Annex I countries in Colombia, Costa Rica and Mexico”, Ricardo identified and documented 16 best practice cases related to
MRV and accounting systems.
The case studies highlight solutions and lessons learned from around the world and support countries that are aiming to enhance their MRV and accounting system
The cases include examples from both developed and developing countries and describe the relevant MRV and accounting approaches and processes, the legal framework they are embedded in, the institutional structures, their design and implementation process as well as lessons learned.
The chosen structure helps readers to swiftly access the information most relevant to them. The cases cover a broad range of topics, e.g. national MRV systems, national
GHG inventories, tracking progress to GHG targets, tracking impacts of
mitigation actions, approaches for specific sectors and verification approaches.
